NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) has granted a four-month extension to the validity of registration and corresponding completion timelines of eligible registered real estate projects affected by the prevailing situation in West Asia.
The circular applies to projects registered under TNRERA whose completion date, revised completion date or extended completion date falls on or after February 28, 2026.
The authority said the West Asia situation has been treated as “war” for the purpose of invoking the force majeure clause under the provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
TNRERA issued the circular following the advisory issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on July 31, 2026.
The ministry had advised all real estate regulatory authorities to issue suitable orders or directions for extension of registration and corresponding completion timelines of registered real estate projects affected by the West Asia situation.
TNRERA said the order has been issued in terms of Section 6 of RERA, 2016, read with Rule 7 of the Tamil Nadu Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017.
The authority also clarified that promoters will not be required to submit separate individual applications or pay any fees for availing the extension.
The circular was issued on August 10, 2026.
