PATNA: The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), Bihar, on Friday imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 each on seven promoters for publishing advertisements of their respective projects without including the mandatory RERA registration number and the Authority’s website address, as required under the RERA Act.
In a first-of-its-kind order, each promoter has been directed to pay the penalty. An official from RERA Bihar confirmed to the TOI that the order was passed by a bench led by RERA Bihar chairman Vivek Kumar Singh.
These seven builders had placed advertisements across social media, newspapers and other platforms. Upon taking cognizance of the violation, the Authority had issued notices to the promoters, instructing them to appear before the Chairman’s bench. “All the respondents in this case accepted their folly,” the official said.
According to the order, the promoters must pay the penalty within 60 days. Failure to do so will result in further action under the relevant sections of the RERA Act and its associated rules and regulations.
